Consultation for Practicing Therapists in Kelowna and Across BC

A steady second perspective on your hardest cases, from a clinician who has sat in the same chair.

Kinga Robinson Therapist working with a client

Overview

Every therapist bumps into the session that stays with them long after the client leaves. A couple that circles the same fight for months. An individual whose protectors won't soften. An ethical grey zone where the right move isn't obvious. Consultation gives you a place to bring that work, think it through out loud, and go back into the next session clearer.

I offer clinical consultation to practicing therapists who work with couples, individuals, or both. Sessions are available in person at my Kelowna office or online anywhere in BC.

Consultation is a fit if you're already in practice and want to keep sharpening your clinical work. That includes:

  • Registered Clinical Counsellors and other licensed therapists in private or group practice

  • Newer clinicians building confidence after graduation

  • Therapists trained in IFS, or integrating IFS into another modality, who want support applying it with real clients

  • Counsellors, social workers and mental health workers in agency, health authority or child protection settings who want a space outside their organization to reflect on their work

Who consultation is for

What we work on together

Case review

Bring a case that feels stuck, confusing, or heavy. We'll look at what's happening for the client, what's happening in the dynamic with you, and what options you haven't tried yet. Case details are shared in de-identified form, consistent with your confidentiality obligations.

Ethical guidance

Dual relationships, boundaries, documentation, informed consent, couples work where one partner discloses a secret. When an ethical question comes up, you shouldn't have to sort it out on your own. We'll think it through with your professional code and your own values in mind so you can act with confidence.

Modality strengthening, with a focus on IFS

I've completed Level 3 training in Internal Family Systems and use IFS and IFIO (Intimacy from the Inside Out) daily with individuals and couples. Consultation can help you move from knowing the model to trusting it in-session: focusing when your own parts get activated, working with protectors that won't give permission, and bringing IFS into couples work. If you practice EFT, Gottman or another approach, we can look at where IFS fits alongside it.

Bias and blind spot identification

Every clinician has history and parts that get pulled in - even triggered: toward rescuing, toward siding with one partner, toward avoiding a topic that touches our own history. Consultation is a place to notice those patterns with curiosity instead of judgment, so they stop steering the dialogue.

Collaborative problem solving from a systemic lens

Clients live inside systems. Families, partnerships, workplaces and the systems within each person all shape what shows up in session. We'll step back and look at the whole picture together, then work out practical next steps you can take into your next appointment.

Consultation, not supervision

This service is consultation for therapists who already hold their own practice and client caseload. It isn't clinical supervision for students or pre-registration hours, and I don't provide clients to consultees. You stay fully responsible for your clinical decisions. My role is to help you think clearly and practice well.

If you're unsure whether consultation meets a requirement from your regulator, employer or training program, please check with them before we begin.

About Kinga

I'm Kinga Robinson, MA, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #14858) with about ten years in private practice in Kelowna. Before that I spent fifteen years in the addictions field, from street outreach to treatment centres, second stage housing and aftercare. I've also worked alongside child protection and health authority teams, and over twenty years I've collaborated with social workers, counsellors, and child and youth mental health workers.

My master's research focused on infidelity, and couples work has been central to my practice ever since. I've completed training in clinical supervision, and I love working with other therapists. The people who hold everyone else's stories need a place to set theirs down too.
