IFS helps you understand and relate to the different parts of yourself with more clarity and compassion. We are all made up of parts, some anxious, some protective, some carrying old pain that has not been fully processed. Rather than trying to change or remove these parts, IFS meets them with curiosity and connection, and lasting change tends to follow from there. Read the full explanation of IFS.
-
Yes. IFS is widely used for anxiety, trauma, and relationship challenges, since it offers a way to work with these experiences safely, gently, and at your own pace.
-
IFS is the individual approach. IFIO, Intimacy from the Inside Out, applies the same ideas to a couple, so both partners can understand their own parts and each other's at the same time. Read more about couples counselling and IFIO.

Adults and couples across the Okanagan. I do not work with children or teenagers on their own, though I do work with families and with parents navigating a child's needs.
-
Yes, I work with trauma. If what you are carrying needs specific expertise, I will tell you plainly and help you find someone who has it. Some concerns, including acute or serious mental illness, are better supported by a team than by one counsellor in private practice.
-
Yes. If you are a practising clinician looking for consultation rather than supervision, that is something I offer. This is different from clinical supervision, which is tied to university placements for therapists who have not yet graduated. Contact me for more information.
-
Both. I offer in person sessions at my Kelowna office and secure online sessions with anyone living in British Columbia.

Individual Sessions run 55 minutes. Initial sessions for couples and families run 85 minutes, since there is more ground to cover in the first meeting. Most people start weekly while things are settling, then move to every couple of weeks, then to occasional check ins. You set the pace, around your life and your situation.

The office is at Unit 214, 3001 Tutt Street in Kelowna. Please come early your first time as signage in the building can unfortunately be confusing. Parking is located on the street or within very limited spaces behind the building.
-
I ask for 24 hours notice for any cancellation. Appointments cancelled with less notice are billed for the full session, except in a documented emergency.
-
170 dollars for individual counselling, 185 dollars for couples and family sessions, and 170 dollars for supervision or consultation, each 55 minutes. Initial couples and family sessions run 85 minutes. A sliding scale may be available for individual and couples or family sessions, so ask if cost is a barrier.

Counselling is not covered by the BC Medical Services Plan, but many extended health plans do cover it. I am a registered with Pacific Blue Cross and Sunlife. If your plan covers counselling, I will provide my registration number on your receipt so you can submit it for reimbursement.
-
Ideally payment is by cash or e transfer, collected at the end of each session.
-
Yes. What you share stays private, with three exceptions required of every counsellor by law: if there is an intention to harm yourself or someone else, for the protection of a child or vulnerable adult, or if your file is subpoenaed by a court. The full detail is covered in the confidentiality and disclosure form provided before your first session.
